Familiar Facades

“Water water everywhere
Nor any drop to drink!”

Such seems to be the state,
Many a times,
So many familiar heartbeats around,
Not one to pace at mine.

Those ears appear to be interested,
Not in stories but in sadistic rhymes.
They engage in conversations,
Not to relate but to kill time.

Those presences web a mirage,
One that is high on social facade.
Those eyes only meet the virtual world,
The real life lives afar.

As I witness those cheerful glances,
Coming towards me
As I walk past their talks,
I have begun to wonder,
The authenticity of those smiles
The ones of the familiar hearts.
